As the year draws to a close, I invite you to take a moment to honor everything you've experienced—the lessons and blessings, your growth and the changes you've made, and the beauty of rest I hope you're receiving abundantly right now.
This pause, between one year of life and the next, is a powerful time to reflect on your journey and lovingly release what no longer serves, creating space for the new.
Now is the time to plant seeds of intention for the year ahead and tend to them day by day with your love and devotion.
To support you in this transition, I’ve prepared several New Year journal prompts for 2025 to help you tune into your inner wisdom. Let them guide you in crafting aligned and soulful intentions as you step into the year ahead.
Setting the stage
First, create a sacred space. Find a quiet spot where you can contemplate undisturbed. You may want to light a candle, burn some blessing herbs, make a cup of herbal tea, or take several deep breaths.
When you feel calm and centered, open your journal. Let your mind wander and your intuition guide you as you answer the following prompts:
Releasing the Past Year:
Reflect on the last year of your life~
~How have I grown and changed?
~What patterns have I shifted?
~What mountains have I climbed and what valleys have I rested in?
~What am I proud of from the last year?
~ What helped me to get through this year? (i.e., rituals, boundaries, relationships, resources, etc.)
~What do I need to release to make space for a new year of life?
Envisioning the Year Ahead:
Explore what you would love to create in the year ahead~
~ When I picture myself in December next year, what do I see?
What have I accomplished? How am I being? What am I doing? Who surrounds me?
~What would I love to create this year?
What would be a miracle were it to manifest in my life over the next 12 months?
~Who do I need to be this year to bring me closer to the life I envision?
In what ways can I begin living the life I envision right now?
~ What support do I most need this year to actualize my intentions and visions?
What resources, teachers, guides, practices, or tools will assist me?
Integrating Your Practice
Read all that you've written. As you reflect on your words, notice what feelings arise and what they may be calling you toward in this next chapter. Then, choose an action step to implement right now to help integrate your practice.
For example:
If you’re releasing a lot from the past year, consider clearing your physical space as part of your process. Start small: pick 1-3 areas in your home—a junk drawer, closet, or pile of papers—and literally let go of what no longer serves you.
If you have a big dream or goal for the year ahead, try embodying it through movement. Choose a song that feels like the celebration of your goal already accomplished. Let yourself move intuitively, inviting the feelings of joy and fulfillment into your body and spirit.
Now is the perfect moment to honor yourself with a ritual of intention—a way to ground your reflections and embrace the possibilities ahead.
